Perhaps the name resonates just a little in your head. Quiroga is a municipality that started before the colonial era. Quiroga was an indispensable road from Tarazco’s capital “Tzintzuntzan” to the ceremonial center “Zacapu”. Zacapu was known as “Cocupao” which means “Lugar de recepción” ("Place of reception"). This municipality was not widely known in the prehispanic era.
The name Tingambato of this archological site comes from the Tarascan language and means "hill of temperate climate". To date only a small part of the site has been explored and surveyed. This site dates earlier than sites settled by the Tarascans or the Purepechas.
